For sale is
a solid walled basket made by Meissen in the mid 20th century . It is decorated with their famous Zwiebelmuster (blue onion) design in under glaze blue. More often than not these are reticulated which presents problems for use with many things so finding one with a solid wall has many advantages. The piece is decorated about on the inside edge with the usual blue onion design with the outside having a relief basket weave design to it to look like a woven basket with blue highlights. A handle to either side with the terminals having vines growing from them with leaves and flowers on them. A really great looking piece! The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as the usual other blue marks and impressed numbers as shown. The piece is 2.75 inches tall without the handles. It is an inch taller with the handles. Diameter of the basket is 7.5 inches and again the handles stick out another inch or so. The basket is in perfect condition. There are two leaves that look chipped but both have glaze and color to the spot and it was made this way in the factory. First choice piece!
