    If using a Newer Improved Design type GM SINGLE LIP (Teflon) or GM DOUBLE LIP (Teflon and Rubber Lip) seal in a A6 compressor that came with a 2 Piece Carbon Shaft Seal, this seal fits in place of the "ceramic seat" or "metal seat" replacing the 2 PIECE Carbon Shaft Seal.

    than the NEWER IMPROVED DESIGN "1 Piece" Teflon "SINGLE LIP" and Teflon/Rubber "DOUBLE LIP" Shaft Seal. This is why NEWER Compressors NO LONGER use the OUTDATED LEAK PRONE CARBON SHAFT SEALS.
    Update now and stop the refrigerant leak, oil leak, and oil sling on the hood of the vehicle! Stop slinging Oil from your A6 compressor!!!!
    The A6 compressor uses a Ceramic Seat or the Heavy Duty Metal Seat for the shaft seal. BOTH seats are the same size and dimensions of the 14mm DOUBLE LIP Shaft Seal.
    To use the newer "1 Piece" Shaft Seal you have to remove BOTH 2 PIECES of the old OEM original style Carbon Shaft Seal and replace with this "1 Piece" Shaft Seal.
    This seal fits in the same location that the Ceramic Seat or the Heavy Duty METAL seat are located on the
    A6 compressor.
    PLEASE NOTE
    :
    CLUTCH AIR GAP SPEC:
    A6 Clutch Hub Air Gap (free space between clutch hub & pulley)  .022" to .057" of an inch
    Press clutch plate onto compressor until clearance between
    clutch plate and pulley is .094" (2.38 mm). Install and tighten shaft
    nut to 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m). Using feeler gauge, ensure air gap
    between clutch plate and pulley is .022-.057" (.56-1.45 mm).

    Shaft Seal Install Tip:
    The
    RUBBER side
    of the 14mm
    DOUBLE LIP
    shaft seal installs and goes INSIDE the compressor,
    rubber side does NOT face outward
    .
    It is best to
    "pre-stretch"
    and
    "precondition"
    the shaft seal
    BEFORE
    installation. To pre-stretch and precondition the seal you MUST lube BOTH the seal and the tool with AC Oil. Then you push the seal BACKWARDS over the tool. To do this you will be doing this in the opposite direction than how the seal will be installed in the compressor.
    A shaft seal Protector is
    REQUIRED
    for GM compressor shaft seal installation. The tool protects, expands, and stretches the
    Teflon
    (Plastic)
    Lip seal to install the seal. Without the tool you
    WILL
    damage to the new shaft seal if you nick, cut, or improperly install the new seal.
    The Shaft seal protector is
    REQUIRED
    if you are to install a seal without damaging the new seal.
    Without the tool
    how will you expand the Teflon Lip seal
    to install it?
    Teflon seals are not like other rubber seals. Teflon seal are actually manufactured with a
    smaller inside diameter
    than the
    actual compressor shaft
    .  That is why you
    MUST
    use this tool to properly install the new seal.
    PLEASE NOTE:
