    Antique Large Tailor of Count of Bruhl's Riding He-Goat 1780's Porcelain Statue
    The Royal Tailor Riding His Billy Goat - figurine from the original mid-18th C. mold by J.Joachim Kandler (1731-1775?) considered to be one of the greatest of the Meissen sculptors, commissioned by the King of Saxony after being impressed by the his royal tailor. The figure wears a soft blue coat with floral pattern, a broad brimmed black hat with colored threads, in one hand he wields his scissors and the other the reins of his regal goat which originally held a plate in its mouth. On the back of the Tailor is a basket with two kids. Overall in very good condition with the exception of loss to the plate and beard, the blades of the scissors and old repair to hand, one side of the reins and what is believed to be the scissors sheath in the Tailors pocket, small edge nick on the base. Marked in under glaze blue crossed swords with scratched number 171. and impress number 72. Measures 9.5" tall.
