Description
This beautiful 19th. century 8" tall Meissen pitcher has three marks on its base: Crossed Swords, the number 33 and an ornate letter A.Across the pitcher from tip of the spout to the back of the handle it measures 7 1/2". The largest rounded part of the pitcher is approximately 5 1/2".
The hand painted images are charming. On one side is a large family of chickens. On the opposite side is a family of geese. Both images are set within a a natural setting. The chickens are in front of a thatched roofed farmhouse. The geese are among swamp grasses.
Surrounding both major images are numerous insects including a prominent yellow butterfly. Scattered about the pitcher are flowering sprigs.
I can see no cracks or flaws to any surface. The gold painted surfaces are bright and bold.
